Jamie Foxx is starring in the ‘Spawn’ movie and this is equal parts odd and interesting
Jamie Foxx? The Spawn movie? Yeah, I don’t know. It’s such an odd combination that I don’t feel comfortable prognosticating! For once, I know. Mark time. Mark date.
‘Spawn’ movie officially happening, with creator Todd MacFarlane directing
I’ve sort of created a cottage industry of negative stakes that I end up being wrong about here at OL. You could spin it as me being a naysayer, or spin it as me being open to being wrong in the long run. Either way, the idea of Todd MacFarlane directing a new Spawn movie does very, very little for me.
Maybe: Spawn appearing in ‘Mortal Kombat X’
Two now-whatever franchises from my adolescent boner 1990s may find themselves writhing in an orgy of testosterone and ridiculousness.
Re-Spawn: Paul Jenkins is taking over as writer of ‘Spawn’ with Issue #251
What kind of scumbag uses a shit joke that just riffs on a word also in the title? THIS SCUMBAG. After getting pumped that Brian Wood was writing Spawn, I got pretty un-pumped when he announced he left the title over editorial problemz. But now I’m doubling-down on my excitement (and hyphens, and shit puns, and shit heads, and shit holes) now that word of Paul Jenkin’s participation on the title has rocketed out of McFarlane’s gullet.
Brian Wood taking over ‘Spawn’ with 250th issue with Jonboy Meyers on art.
I haven’t enjoyed (or more specifically, read) Spawn for like…half a lifetime. Literally. I’m thirty-one. I fucking worshipped it when I was probably fifteen. But man. When I loved that comic, I fucking *loved* it. Same goes for Sam and Twitch when Bendis was penning it. But yeah. Like. Half a life has passed and the question has been, “what could ever get me to read the title again?” I’ve found the answer. Brian Wood.
NEIL GAIMAN returning to Marvel, bringing ANGELA with him.
I didn’t see this one coming. I suppose that isn’t surprising, since I cannot see much through the womb of caffeine and masturbating that I exist within. Neil Gaiman is returning to Marvel, and the good man is bringing Angela with him. Yes, that Angela. The one he co-created with Todd McExpensiveBaseBalls way back in the day.
McFarlane Paying Gaiman $382,000 In ‘Spawn’ Settlement, Who Really Wins? Charity.
Remember when Toddy McFarlane said to Robert Kirkman, “they only sue when there’s money” and we all had a good laugh at his reductionist tendencies? Oh, good times. ‘Cause it really doesn’t mean there can’t be money and just cause or whatever. Such was the case in the Gaiman vs McFarlane court battle, where Gaiman ended up winning. A considerable amount of money, that he is going to donate to charity.
Todd McFarlene: They Only Sue When There’s Money, Me: LOL Mark McGuire.
Todd McFarlane wrapped up a length legal battle last year with Neil Gaiman, and now he’s parlaying those sour grapes into comic books commentary. If you haven’t heard, Robert ‘Walking Dead Was A Good Comic I Promise’ Kirkman is getting sued by Tony Moore who worked on the rag with him. McFarlene decided to make public some eggs of knowledge he cracked over Kirkman.
