English Copyright Ruling Proclaims Ownership of The *Idea* Of A Photo. Brain Hurts.

Do you know what the copyright of an image is? Generally I assume it’s the actual fucking photo. I also don’t know anything about law. So there’s that. Even with my admittedly neophyte understanding of copyright law, I still find this ruling by an English copyright House of Something or Whatever to be a bit wonky.

Senate Postpones PIPA Vote. Everyone Dance (To Pirated Music)!

While everyone was totally Facebooking and Tweeting about SOPA in the past couple of weeks, its mutated Deliverance-esque brother bill was making its way through the Senate. However, there’s good news. A vote on the bill was postponed thanks to recent blatherings about rights and such by people and annoyances everywhere.

Yesterday, Anonymous Dropped DoJ, RIAA, MPAA and More Offline.

Anonymous was a little  bit cheesed about the U.S. Justice Department taking down popular website Megaupload.com the day after the internet went somewhere near dark to protest SOPA. In response they dropped the hammer on a considerable amount of impressively high-target websites.

THE INTERNET IS DOWN, Let’s Hang Out.

A vast tundra of websites are shutting down in an effort to symbolically step on the neck of SOPA. The Omega Level? Well, we ain’t shutting down, but I’m going to kill the updates for the day. It’s my usual half-assed way of making any sort of stand. Instead of disappearing, I offer you this forum for hanging out. Hit the comments section. How is your week going? Gaming Industry Spent $190,000 Pushing For Senate Version of SOPA Last Summer. Bastiches.

The US Senate has its own version of the infernal SOPA bill, called PIPA. Last summer the gaming industry spent a considerable amount of money pushing to get the goddamn thing passed.

House Ain’t Voting On SOPA Until ‘Consensus’ Reached. White House Won’t Support It.

If you’re on this website, you’re clearly emotionally disturbed. Maybe. Hey don’t take offense. However, if you’re on this website you’re also probably internet savvy and you know all about the SOPA. So I won’t waste my time explaining it for the 1,000th time. However, I will tell you that the House has said they won’t vote on it until a consensus is reached.

GoDaddy Drops SOPA Support After Boycott. Power + People Et Cetera.

GoDaddy was one of a pantheon of corporations that have been riding the SOPA bill like gangbusters, until recently. Peoples of the Internets got word of it, and a boycott was beginning to mount. The thundering thunders grew and now GoDaddy is dropping support.
