Reddit co-founder Aaron Swartz dies at age 26.
Real talk. I didn’t know about Aaron Swartz before today, but even a cursory examination of his life casts the dude as pretty cool. Swartz didn’t just co-found Reddit. In an act of digital righteousness that cuts close to home, he liberated 4.8 million documents from that gated golden tower of academia, JSTOR. Shine on, dude.
Kevin Smith hoping to get out ‘CLERKS 3’ for original film’s 20th anniversary. I’m f**king old.
Goddamn! I really hate the fact that Clerks is creeping up on its 20th anniversary. I suppose there will be few more appropriate ways to celebrate my blase and unimpressive existence that Clerks has helped shape so greatly than by catching the epic conclusion to the franchise.
STAN LEE on the mend after pacemaker surgery. Get well, good sir.
It’s hard to imagine a landscape without Stan Lee. Unfortunately born into a universe bound by laws of mortality, some day the good sir will be sloughing the mortal coil. However, not yet! The good man is recuperating following pacemaker surgery.
GREG RUCKA has reached end of “WORK FOR HIRE ROPE”, joins the amassing legions.
Talented as sin Greg Rucka is yet another comic creator no longer wanting to do the work for hire song and dance. They’re dropping like lies, tough I’d be remiss to not also comment on the pantheon of fresh and wonderful blood the Two Beasts have stoked up on lately. To siphon dry.
JOE KUBERT has passed away. Pour out your beverage of choice for the legend.
Another comic book legend has embraced eternity. Joe Kubert, legend unto himself and father of two of comics’ biggest artists has passed away. So it may go, but it is still a bummer.
RIP: Moebius, French Mind-Bendy Comics Legend.
Full disclosure: I’m not intimately associated with Mobeius and his work, though my brother and I were even recently expressing a desire to correct this utter lack. I do know that he was tremendously influential, and his ripple-down has infiltrated the work of my more specific heroes.
Vonnegut Library To Give Away Free Copies Of Banned Book To Missouri Students. Awesome.
Remember a couple of days ago when I posted that a douche professor in Missouri managed to get Slaughterhouse-Five banned? Well the Kurt Vonnegut memorial library is willing to give away copies of the books. This is awesome.
