Doubly Rockin’ – Tarantino has a sci-fi movie idea, confirms ‘The Hateful Eight’
Double your pleasure, double your fun with this news. Not only is Tarantino officially going forth with The Hateful Eight, but he’s also got a little sci-fi idea in his brain. Admittedly, it’s still gestating. But fuck. I will always be pumped when one of my favorite directors thinks about tackling my favorite genre.
BUY THESE FLIPPIN COMICS!! (8/7/2013) – SCI-FI RENAISSANCE
Hey, folks! Johnny here, back again for another week of slingin’ philosophical about my favorite pastime! Looking at this week’s releases, I was amazed at just how much great non-superhero fare there is to be read currently. Not in a long time have I felt that the variety of books is SO great and SO varied, that it is the perfect time to introduce comics to friends and loved ones who might like comics, but maybe just don’t dig capes. Here’s what I’d like to grab this week, and hit us up in the comments and tell us what you’re looking out for!
STEVEN WALTERS’ latest SPACE BABE is pure win.
Friend of the site and OMNI collaborator Steven Walters just like, you know, totally without care dropped this gorgeous illustration on his Tumblr and Instagram recently. Man. Steven! I am the jealous. No big deal. Just a ridiculously stunning spur-of-the-moment type thing.
(Seriously though, you rule.)

Damon Lindelof Writing A Sci-Fi Movie For Disney. Ending Sucks! LOL.
Snark aside, I really like Damon Lindelof. Despite the fact that the ending to LOST sucks, and he acted like a douche on Twitter when George R.R. Martin pointed this out to him. This makes the fact that he’s writing a sci-fi movie for Disney very, very exciting.
We’re Not Fuggin’ Worthy: Spike Jonze Making A Short Sci-Fi B-Movie
I love me some Spike Jonze. A lot. I love me some Sci-Fi. A lot. I love me some fucking B-Movies. A lot. Smash them together with Arcade Fire? Surely it cannot be, we are not worthy! Apparently Jonze and the band Arcade Fire have been collaborating on a short flick for a while now, and the frontman of said band recently spilled some (righteous) beans.
Slashfilm:
Pitchfork got a chance to talk with Arcade Fire lead Win Butler, who spilled a few more details about the project:
“It’s not a video. It’s a short film; we’re still working on it. It’s like a science-fiction B-movie companion piece for the record. Basically, we played Spike some music from the album and the first images that came to his mind had the same feeling as this idea for a science fiction film I had when I was younger. My brother and I and Spike wrote it together, which was really fun— it was like total amateur hour. We shot it in Austin and a lot of kids are in the film, and it was great just hanging out with these 15-year-olds for a week and writing down all the funny things they said. It was cool to revert to being a 15-year-old for a little while.”
