DC’s ‘New 52’ Getting Huge Initial Launch Orders. JLA #1 Past 200,000.

Initial orders and copies sold aren’t the same. Initial orders of enormous flagship titles aren’t indicative of how smaller titles of that publisher will sell, nor if the flagship will sustain the orders after the hype. Even with that in mind, I’m impressed at the initial orders for DC’s ‘New 52’ titles.

Grant Morrison Talks About The Death of Comics, and Gender Imbalance.

There’s a new Rolling Stone interview with Grant Morrison, and it has some tasty cuts from my Spiritual Guru. Aside from some gossip where he continues to astral karate chop Mark Millar and Alan Moore, he has some very surprising words about the death of comics.

[Updated] Marvel Reveals ‘The Forgiven’, Hulk-Fighters Extraordinaires

[Update]  I blathered on this afternoon about The Forgiven, and the line of Marvel teasers dedicated to them. I said “Derpa derpa, what could these people be?” Well Marvel up and told everyone mere hours later. Egg on my face, friends. Egg on my face!

Video: DC Releases ‘New 52’ Commercial. This Won’t Work.

Putting aside any sort of snark, I cannot fathom this DC commercial for their ‘New 52’ persuading anyone  who doesn’t read comic books to come check out their reboot-refresh-tabula-close-t0-rasa bullshit. I really can’t. It’s a cheese vomit concoction.

Hit the jump to check out the video.

And probably shake your head.

Variant Covers: Make My Matt Murdock A Byronic Hero.

It’s a small week for me. Which is okay, because if we’re all pulling down our pull list pants and baring all for one another, I’ll confess that the only comic book I’ve read from last week’s haul is Fear Itself #5. It isn’t that there wasn’t a healthy amount of titles for me to gorge on. It’s just that I’m the prototypical comic book equivalent of an edger. If you’d like to think of my reading comic books as masturbating (because let’s face it for a comic book geek to talk about actual fornication is just killing the motif), then my reading habits have me perpetually hovering around my favorite titles. The time needs to be perfect. To climax with the titles that truly blow my mind. Last week I didn’t climax, my stack of comic books is blue and bulging and asking for release.

I’m not really sure what I’m writing about anymore.

Marvel Releases Third Teaser For Hickman’s ‘4’, This One Is Flame-On.

Marvel’s released a third teaser for November’s ‘4’ event which is looking more and more like a commomeration of Fantastic Four #600. I predicted it would be J. Storm-less. Today I’m feeling foolish.
