The Russo Bros want to direct ‘Black Widow’ solo movie
The Russo Brothers are currently my favorite thang rocking creatively around the Marvel Studios Monstrosity. They brought me Winter Soldier, they’re bringing me Civil War and Infinity Gauntlet, and they want to bring me a Black Widow movie. Make it so, chaps. Make it so.
‘Doctor Strange’ starts production; main cast has been confirmed
Doctor Strange is officially underway! With the official production beginning, Marvel has released a confirmation of the main cast. Quite the cast, man.
Matthew McConaughey turned down ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ villain role
Well, shit. Matthew McConaughey turned down the “villain” role for Guardians for the Galaxy 2. Which, whatever that means, has me thinking he turned down the role of Star-Lord’s dad. I get it. He’s got shitty Lincoln car commercials to star in while “maintaining” his “integrity” or whatever #baselessbitterness.
Report: ‘Captain America: Civil War’ trailer debuting with ‘The Force Awakens’
This makes sense. Disney is propelling us into the apocalyptic monoculture, slowly accumulating our entire pop psyche for their benefit (and mine, #stockholder). So why not use the amazing largesse of corporate synergy that The Force Awakens presents as a means to promote another vessel?
‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ has cast Pom Klementieff in key role
I don’t know who Pom Klementieff is, but I’m down with any Guardians of the Galaxy-2-Volume-Time news.
Rumor: Marvel Studios reclaims ‘Fantastic Four’ movie rights [Updated]
[Update: Or not. Fuck.]
So, Fox announced a couple of X-Men spin-off television show properties yesterday. Okay. Whatever. Read about them here. But what is really interesting is this rumor: in exchange for signing off on these spin-offs, Marvel has been given the Fantastic Four movie rights.
Bryan Cranston wants to play a Marvel Supervillain
It may have been obvious casting, but I’m of the opinion that the DCU fucked up when they didn’t cast Bryan Cranston as Lex Luthor. Especially since they did cast that insufferable herb Jesse Eisenberg. But hey. Maybe their loss is this Marvel fanboy’s gain. The Man Who Played The Man Who Was The One That Knocked has revealed he would love to play a villain in the MCU.
Rumor: Marvel’s ‘Inhumans’ movie has been cancelled
Remember like last month, when it was announced Kevin Feige had assumed True Ultimate Power over the MCU? And we all gazed at the Abyss and wondered what it would mean? Well — if rumors are true — the first sign of Feige’s newfound dominance is the cancellation of the Inhumans movie.
Kevin Feige gains more control over Marvel Studios after company restructuring
I clearly am not up to date with my Marvel Studios Backstage Machinations. I, perhaps naively, just sort of assumed Kevin Feige did what he wanted when it came to the studio. But apparently he was like, answering to some guy. That he didn’t like. But now he isn’t? Is this a good thing? I don’t know. As I said. I am clearly not up to date with the machinations. But I trust Feige, so wee. How do you feel about it?
