COMICS WE’RE BUYING THIS WEEK: Crabapples, Breast-Feeding, and Aliens. We Have Win!
Come one, come all into the rodeo of splash-page-ultra-narrative death. This is Comics We’re Buying This Week, the column where we gather in a neat circle and share the new funny books that are exciting us. It’s communal. Like the showers. Like the water fountain. I go first. Don’t lag behind. This week is replete with eccentric wunder-artists, premiere issues, and breast milk. It’s going to be fun.

ALAN MOORE On The Fans Who Will Buy ‘BEFORE WATCHMEN’ ILU, Alan.
Yo! I’m riding on this here high horse, and I’m swooping down with some awesomeness from Alan Moore on the fans who will buy Before Watchmen. Note: I know he’s generalizing since I think Rendar and others here at OL are going to buy it, and they seem like decent enough people. You know. Friends. A brother. But still. I fist-pump to the sentiment while acknowledging the necessary middle ground everywhere in Existence.

Marvel Announces DIGITAL-ONLY ‘Infinite Comics’ Imprint. Shots Fired!
At SXSW, Marvel unveiled its “ReEvolution” initiative. Brief aside: who the fuck is naming things at Marvel right now? They all sound like B-SIDES of all the already awful Final Fantasy descriptors. Anyways. Moving along. The most striking part of this new movement is the announcement of a digital-only line of comics. Welcome to the future?
Theft of NICHOLAS CAGE’S ‘Action Comics #1’ Being Made Into Movie By Lionsgate. I Vote Yes.
Back in the day, right after the Y2k-virus was done finishing off the remnants of our civilization, Nicolas Cage’s copy of Action Comics #1 was stolen. It went on a journey for a solid eleven years, before being retrieved last year. This tale!, nay!, this saga of awesomeness is going to come to the screen courtesy of Lionsgate. Prepare for Action No. 1.
‘SPIDER-MEN #1’ Comes This June From Marvel. NOTE THE PLURAL.
Marvel’s announced uh, something, in the vein of Spider-Men #1 arriving this June. At least I was all “If those fucks get rid of Miles Morales I will literally cut them”, but then I noticed something…it isn’t the Ultimate universe.

Oh goody! There’s a new DC website launching, and it’s going to have oodles if Before Watchmen content. I wonder if Anonymous is busy?
ComiXology Has Had Over 50 Million Downloads; How Many Are Paid Though?
comiXology may very well be the shape of comic book things to come. You know, when the funny book farms have their doors closed and their windows shuttered. Some interesting stats have been revealed about the service, namely how many downloads there have been and just how big of a month last goddamn December was for them.
