Eric Stephenson continues to dominate both the comic landscape and my heart. The Image Comics publisher has lobbed some bombs at Marvel’s current assy Super Event, pointing out the obvious: no one is going to give a shit in a decade.

DC RIPS OFF Image’s Creator-Centric Ad Campaign For Comic-Con
As I’ve said ad nauseam lately, Image has been firing on all cylinders. One of the reasons for their righteous domination is their focus on the fucking creators. DC seems to have taken notice of Image and its bustling stable of marketable creators, ninjaing the idea of marketing the creators themselves. Shit, even the aesthetic is redolent of the Image campaign.

Paul Dini is responsible for many a wonderful thang, most particularly Batman: The Animated Series. That shit sculpted a good part of my childhood. Alan Scott is the prominent character that DC is introducing into New 52 continuity as gay. The original Green Lantern! Neat? It all sort of feels like a cop out to me, plastering this announcement everywhere and then finding out its a dude 70% of pop culture doesn’t know. Writer of Earth 2 James Robinson was discussing all of this with The Advocate when he revealed the obvious (?), that Alan Scott won’t be the only gay character.
