Marvel Announces ‘MARVEL NOW’ Bringing MASSIVE RELAUNCHES And I Quietly Weep.

Ugh. Jesus Christ. Now Marvel is relaunching everything ever, shaking up creators teams and daring to address everything save for good stories. Maybe these new titles will be good, maybe they won’t. However you know what dominates hype? Just fucking  quality storytelling. Just focus on it guys. Please. I’m begging you. The wave of hype will dissipate after we go “Wow! Relaunched bullshit that’ll devolve into status quo! This totally isn’t a response to the Blase 52!” and then things will return to functioning as a simmering churn factory for movie scripts.

‘EARTH 2’ WRITER James Robinson: Alan Scott Won’t Be The Only Gay Character In Earth 2. I’d Hope Not.

Alan Scott is the prominent character that DC is introducing into New 52 continuity as gay. The original Green Lantern! Neat? It all sort of feels like a cop out to me, plastering this announcement everywhere and then finding out its a dude 70% of pop culture doesn’t know. Writer of Earth 2  James Robinson was discussing all of this with The Advocate  when he revealed the obvious (?), that Alan Scott won’t be the only gay character.

DC Reintroducing Prominent Character As Gay; Dick Grayson Please.

DC is reversing the claim they made last year where they stated that they would not reintroduce an established prominent character as gay, instead wanting to focus on organically introducing homosexual characters into their universe. What a difference a year makes, no?

WIZARD Teams Up With ‘THE SITUATION’ For Comic And Convention Appearances. Ah, F**k You.

Piss on my childhood and call it a water sports party! My lord. I know that Wizard is having a rough go of it, but this smacks of tanning beds and serious  desperation. The company that once governed me through many a sweaty summer vacations with their articles and pricing guides are thudding at the floor of the well.

PETER PARKER and MILES MORALES To Meet In ‘SPIDER-MEN’. Oh Marvel.

Well, it’s happening. The Ultimate and 616 universes are somehow interacting, an event that Joe Quesada once said would only happen when Marvel was out of ideas. Which you know, makes it seem like perfect sense that its happening now.

Details and artwork after the jump.

Matt Fraction and David Aja Reteaming for new MARVEL SERIES. Oh Hell Yes.

I first really began to take notice of Matt Fraction during his stint on Iron Fist  with Ed Brubaker and David Aja, many moons ago. A lifetime of funny books since. Now the Fraction-Man and Aja are going to be reteaming it seems, and this has my balls aflutter.

‘CAPTAIN AMERICA’ Sequel Announced For April 2014.

Provided that the world doesn’t end in December (it’s going to, fuck science and fuck you too), Marvel is going to continue churning out installments of the comic-book-movie-industrial-complex. Hope you’re not sick of the flicks, cause they’re lined up for years, and years, and years. The latest joint to get an official sequel release date is Captain America: Fucking Silly Poses.

Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson: A Title Selling Out Isn’t A Good Thing

Eric Stephenson is the publisher for Image Comics, who are the hottest mainstream comics company in my eyes. Stephenson spoke out recently about the “success” of titles of theirs such as Saga  selling out at comic book stores. He definitely dapped it up with those titles, but also pointed something out: selling out sort of sucks.

Marvel Continues Teasing Possible ‘ULTIMATE’ Crossover In New ‘SPIDER-MEN’ Promo. 616-U?

Marvel continues to tease the tip when it comes to some sort of crossover involving both Peter Parker and the Spider-Man of their Ultimate universe. I can’t recall a time when they’ve riffed on this sort of interaction between the two universes, but if they’re going to do it they might as well do it with their best character. Yeah, that’s right. Miles Morales.
