Comics We’re Snagging This Week: Get That Broadsword Out Of My Secret Orifice
As I type this, it’s Tuesday evening. I’m on campus in the middle of another seven hour school night. Fuck, man! When you read this, such time will have passed. The groans of labor receded. It will be the most special day of the week. No, no, no. Not colonic and sugar cone Saturday evening. Though that day is a close second. It will be Wednesday, heralding the arrival of new funny books.
This is the jam where we all share the comics we’re digging this week. If you don’t know what’s dropping, hit up ComicList. Share your list, who knows what could happen. My colonic buddy is going away this weekend and if you’re comically compatible consider this your entrance exam.
Brian Wood Is Taking Over ‘X-MEN’ and ‘ULTIMATE COMICS X-MEN’, Plus More Marvel News.
Apparently Brian Wood is intending to have the X-Gene on fucking lockdown this year. Fresh off penning Wolverine: Alpha and Omega, the scribe who won my heart with DMZ is taking over two other X-Titles. Oh yeah!, and a potpourri of other Marvel news I haven’t gotten around to.
Rafael Grampa Does Variant Cover For Brian Wood’s ‘The Massive’ TOO MUCH AWESOME
Brian Wood’s next magnum opus is The Massive. Rafael Grampa is a favorite artist of us here at OL. Combining the two of them together in a variant cover for the debut issue is almost too much.

Comics We’re Buying This Week: Holy Sh*t, A Paul Pope Sighting!
The name is the game! Welcome to Comics We’re Buying This Week, the communal comic book welcome wagon where we all share the hotness we’re snagging from the funny book farm on a given Wednesday. Per usual: my taste is shite, and I’m always looking to broaden my horizons. Don’t know what’s dropping? Behold ComicList.
Comics We’re Buying This F**king Week: Massive Wood and Brubaker’s College Fund.
Welcome to the newly minted (and perhaps not staying named as such) Comics We’re Buying This F**king Week. Figured I’d cut the bullshit. Herein us guys and gals of the sequential funny book time can share the comic books we’re digging on in a given week. It’s a pretty exciting week, as I’m getting a new dose of Wood to engulf. Always a sucker for the Wood. (And infantile puns. It’s been a long day, forgive me.)

Warren Ellis Says Comics Should Go Digital First. Brian Wood Says “I Am”
Warren Ellis got around to dropping some comments about where he thinks the comic industry should go, and should have already went recently. He stated that comics should go digital-first, but opined that maybe creators didn’t have a taste for it. Then stepped in Brian Wood.
Brian Wood On Comics Industry: ‘Everyone Is Bleeding’
I’m a huge, huge fan of Brian Wood and his works. More than that, I value his insight into the comic book industry as a whole. A couple of days ago he dropped some rather despair-slathered comments on the comic book industry, proclaiming that everyone is bleeding. And!, And that he’s already begun envisioning a day when his role in the comics world is reduced. Merry Christmas?
Preview: Wood Talks About ‘Wolverine and the X-Men: Alpha and Omega”
Brian Wood is returning to Marvel and rocking the fuck out on Wolverine and the X-Men: Alpha and Omega. Which is close, so very close, to trumping Ultimate Comics Ultimates for the most amazingly cumbersome Marvel title. Ever. More cumbersome than one of my adverb riddled mindlessly spewed neverendingly vapid sentences. (See what I did there?)
Want a preview of this awesomeness? Of course you do.
Details On Brian Wood’s ‘Wolverine’ Title. My Fanboy Body Is Ready.
Brian Wood dropped some details on his Wolverine mini-series over the weekend at the X-Men: Super Sega Genesis panel at NYCC. It’s going to be a mini-series of fiery hotness and dope-osity.
Brian Wood’s Eco Disaster Comic ‘The Massive’ To Be Ongoing. Pants. Flooding.
With DMZ and Northlanders wrapping up, I was beginning to worry about where I’d get my glorious Brian Wood creator-owned sweetness. He’s doing Conan, it’s going to rock. He’s taking on Wolverine. Doubly dope. But I wanted something of his own, and so when it was made clear that The Massive was going to be a limited, I frowned. I can now unfrown, the pig is now going to be an ongoing.
