‘Nightcrawler’ Red Band Trailer: Gyllenhaal’s American Psychotics

Nightcrawler

Coming up on Friday is the release of Nightcrawler, another fucking tour de force for Jake Gyllenhaal. If you’ve been sleeping on him, Jakey has been fucking crushing it lately. And this latest release is Gyllenhaal channelling a gloriously unhinged enterprising would-be journalist in the world of LA crime reporting. A dark comedy arriving on The Demon’s Night.

Sounds good.

BORING: Benedict Cumberbatch is Marvel’s Doctor Strange

Benedict Cumberbatch

I wish I could tell you how many unfucks I give about this doubleplusungood casting. He’ll probably be adequate, but I’m sick of his face. And out of all the purported contenders he’s the least interesting choice. THE MYSTIC GAME IS AFOOT, TWATSON #yawn.

Go figure: WB looking for female director for ‘Wonder Woman’ flick

Gal Godot

Go figure. Go nuts! Go bananas! Go whatever you want. Just celebrate this neat bit of news. It almost makes too much sense: a female director could be helming the female-led Wonder Woman movie.

Adam McKay probably directing a Marvel movie

Adam McKay.

Adam McKay directing a Marvel movie? Makes sense. The Leviathan is enormous. Its consumptive needs are never-ending, all-expanding. Slowly but surely all talent of even marginal measure will be subsumed into its corpus. The exceptions shall prove the rule. This Leviathan is the Never Ending Comic Book Movie Monster.

Confirmed: Christian Bale to play Steve Jobs in Sorkin’s Biopic

Christian Bale

YEAH SO I don’t think of Christian Bale when I think of people who are perfect to play Steve Jobs. No worry. The motherfucker knows a thing or two about reinventing himself for a role.

Steve Carell making movie with Charke Kaufman, writer of ‘Eternal Sunshine’

Steve Carell

I have very little fucks to give about Steve Carell these days. Left The Office, which made his career. I’m irrationally bitter about that. (Don’t say Daily Show.) Made some Typical Indie Movies, looks actually fantastic in Foxcatcher. But could really, really get me excited for a work of his would be some sort of dream pairing. Like this one.

Hulkbuster

Frankly, FRANKLY, I see no goddamn reason for OL to exist if I cannot take a minute out of the Maelstrom of the Now to post the leaked Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer. THE PLATONIC IDEAL OF THIS SPACE-SHIP IS TO BE EXCITED OVER JAMS LIKE THIS.

Ewan McGregor being considered for ‘Dr. Strange’

Ewan McGregor

Looks like Ewan McGregor could be fucking busy, fucking soon! Apparently the Bearded Force Babe may not just be collecting checks from the House of Mouse for an Obi-Wan trilogy. The son of a bitch is also being looked at for the role of Dr. Strange. Along with, you know, 75% of White Hollywood.

Rumor: Russo Brothers to direct ‘Avengers 3’ and ‘Avengers 4’

The Russo brothers.

Last night the RDJ+CP3=MCU’sCW news broke. And while I dug it, I agreed with most who were all “Wait, Civil War, already?” But what I was hoping (OH HOPES OF HOPE) was that Cap 3 was merely the jumping-off point for Cinematic Civil War. The kick-off, the impetus, the boiling point. And if the rumors of the Russo Brothers maybe/sorta directing the next two Avengers movies are true, it would help perpetuate my hope. Sanctify it. In blood and comic book flesh and the mewling whimper of a decaying star’s doomed infancy.
