Marvel Studios’ “Creative Committee” has disbanded, but I ain’t sweating it
Lots of restructuring going around in Marvel Studios this week. First it was announced that Kevin Feige more/less seized complete control of Marvel Studios from Isaac Perlmutter. Perlmutter being known for, you know, saying women don’t enjoy superhero flicks or need action figures. So I was like, okay, cool. And now comes news that Marvel Studios’ “Creative Committee” is being disbanded. Initial thoughts? I don’t really fucking care. At this point (seven years in), I’m willing to accept whatever Shepherd Feige has in mind for the MCU. He’s earned enough goodwill to buy my good faith thrice over, especially if reports of the “Creative Committee” was more a source of frustration for the minds behind than MCU than anything else. TL;DR – I trust Feige, let him have the MCU.
Report: Spielberg’s Dreamworks is splitting from Disney
I guess I didn’t even realize that Steven Spielberg’s Dreamworks was aligned with Disney. But I suppose this revelation is a tad late, since it’s only been brought to my attention to inform me that this partnership was ending. Alas.
‘Wonder Woman’ movie picks up “Interstellar’ cinematographer
Holy futz. Wonder Woman has snagged Hoyte Van Hoytema as its cinematographer. Which means that this movie is going to be goddamn unflinchingly beautiful, regardless of its other qualities. This makes me very, very excited.
Kevin Feige gains more control over Marvel Studios after company restructuring
I clearly am not up to date with my Marvel Studios Backstage Machinations. I, perhaps naively, just sort of assumed Kevin Feige did what he wanted when it came to the studio. But apparently he was like, answering to some guy. That he didn’t like. But now he isn’t? Is this a good thing? I don’t know. As I said. I am clearly not up to date with the machinations. But I trust Feige, so wee. How do you feel about it?
Master of Horror Wes Craven has passed away at age 76
Wes Craven has passed away at the age of 76, after a battle with brain cancer. What a goddamn bummer. The man is behind some of the greatest horror movies of all time, and certainly the inspiration for countless great ones to come. Let us remember the lad well. What was your favorite movie of his?
Maybe: Vin Diesel announced that an ‘Iron Giant’ sequel is happening
Vin Diesel likes to shoot his mouth off. Dude has been teasing an expanded role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for what — years at this point? And still. Nothing outside of Groot. So take this with a spoonful of salt. The Bald Beautiful Bastard maybe kind of/sort of announced that an Iron Giant sequel will be happening.
‘Jackie Brown’ soundtrack is getting a vinyl rerelease
Good news for those fans of the Jackie Brown soundtrack who own themselves a record player. The soundtrack to Tarantino’s forgotten child (listen, don’t be the person to come in here and be like I HAVEN’T FORGOTTEN IT!!! I know its a cult classic but I’m talking ask the average person about it) is getting itself a rerelease on vinyl. And man, I haven’t watched the film in a while, but seeing the track listing? Reminds me of what a great fucking soundtrack the movie has.
