‘Logan’s Run’ being turned into movie franchise because reasons
Weird. I recently saw Logan’s Run for the first time, and it was a pretty fantastic dose of hallucinatory mid-70s science-fiction. I enjoyed it! However, at no point did the movie scream either “mass market!” or “movie franchise!” to me. But, what the fuck do I know?
Rumor: ‘Justice League Dark’ looking at Monica Bellucci and Colin Farrell for roles
So, I have no idea about the characters that WB is eyeing Monica Bellucci to play. But holy crap crackers, Colin Farrell as Constantine? I can fuck with that! And, I love both of those people, so I support this development.
Alexandra Daddario starring in ‘Baywatch’ movie with Dwayne Johnson
Good grief. I was already going to see Baywatch because I love that big old slab of gorgeous beef, Dwayne Johnson. But now that Alexandra Daddario (from *that* scene in True Detective‘s first season) is going to be in it? Thrice sold.
Ryan Gosling confirms he is in ‘Blade Runner 2’
We don’t need Blade Runner 2. But really, we seldom need a sequel. So instead I’m going to focus on the positive aspects of Blade Runner 2. Cyberpunk. Denis Villeneuve. Ryan Gosling.
Doug Liman (‘Edge of Tomorrow’) is directing ‘Gambit’ movie
Doug Liman is the latest character to get involved in the Gambit Movie Saga. A saga that is beginning to give the Ant-Man Movie Saga a run for its money in terms of twists, turns, and talent drop-outs. The director will be helming the Mutie Movie starring Channing Tatum, should everything hold-up in the final negotiations.
Netflix funding director Bong Joon-Ho’s (‘Snowpiercer’) next movie
Snowpiercer was dope. Maybe not worth the effusive accolades the internet slathered about its robust chest, praising it and rubbing, praising it and rubbing. But dope. And so I’m glad to see that someone is stepping up to funding director Bong Joon-Ho’s next movie.
Maybe: Adam McKay writing ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’
After Edgar Wright dropped the project, Adam McKay did punch-up work on the original Ant-Man script. Briefly, he was in talks to direct, and that never happened. And now it is looking like he *may* be writing it. I would fucking love this.
Nicolas Winding Refn’s ‘The Neon Demon’ picked up by Amazon for theater distribution and streaming
The war between Netflix and Amazon continues. The former snagged the rights to Beasts of No Nation this year, and Amazon has answered by procuring the rights to the next Winding Refn jam.
