James Stokoe’s ‘WONTON SOUP’ getting collected by ONI in new trade paperback.
Bro! Are you even serious right now? Don’t fucking tease me. Don’t tease me! It can’t be like that time where you told me Jenny Lawrence was in the back of that van ready to peg me! I lubed up! I stripped down! Then it turned out to be Uncle Al and his local rendition of Punk’d. Fucking douchebags. Still got the scabs on my berries from when I tripped backwards out of the van in fear. Anyways! This is that level of excitement.
MOST GNARLY: Brandon Graham creates shared sci-fi universe at Image called “8HOUSE.’
So fucking ill. Nana with warts on her butt hole shades of ill. Brandon Graham is creating a shared sci-fi universe “8House” over at Image Comics, and the whole thing sort of smacks like a Graham Universe. A collection of mini-series taking place in a shared universe, creator-owned characters, and creativity out the ass. I am fucking there.
CHUCK PALAHNIUK asking MATT FRACTION for help on ‘FIGHT CLUB’ sequel
I have absolutely no idea what to make of this. On one hand you have a sequel hatching perhaps unnecessarily to one of my sacred cows. I’ve already bemoaned its existence. Fuck! I had a stance. However. Now on the other hand you have my favorite author teaming up with one of my favorite comic writers.
Farel Dalrymple’s ‘The Wrenchies’ to drop this Fall. Waiting isn’t awesome.
The Wrenchies is coming. Are coming? Grammar, man. Anyways. I’m one of those goons who didn’t come across Farel Dalrymple until his rocking work on Prophet. However, I’ve been feverishly following him since then. The talented son of a gun is releasing the aforementioned Wrenchies this Fall, and it’s going to be a brutal wait. The premise is intriguing, and the creator’s list of inspirations for the title is a veritable rundown of my favorite things.
Casey, Farinas, Dalrymple, collection of other artists relaunching Jack Kirby comic ‘Captain Victory’
I say New Gods, yes! Joe Casey and a fucking squadron of Beast Mode artists are intent on relaunching a Jack Kirby classic for Dynamite Entertainment. I’ve never checked out the Kirby original, but jeepers is this endeavor stacked with talent. As Lenny Descartes says in Django The Slaver Slayer, “first I was eating pineapple, but now I’m excited.”
Image comics announces ‘THE FIELD’ from Ed Brisson and Simon Roy.
After discovering his righteousness across the pages of Prophet, I’m pretty much ready to ride and die with Simon Roy. So when word comes that he’s teaming up with Ed Brisson for a mini-series after at Image…I’m both jacked. And pumped.
Vertigo announces ‘VERTIGO QUARTERLY: CMYK.’ ILL ANTHOLOGY GET.
OH WORD? Vertigo is putting out a fucking quarterly anthology? Stacked with goddamn talent? Like Jock? Fabio Moon? Others? Bro, you sign me up. In blood and seminal fluids. That’s how serious I am. Drain me and clone me, I simply don’t care.
COMIXOLOGY was top-grossing iPad app in 2013. Outside of games.
Yeah okay it’s a caveat but that’s still damn impressive! I am proud of you, my brethren. My tablet-bound, digi-comic downloading brothers in funny book-arms.
PETER PARKER RETURNS in new ‘AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1’ in April.
Marvel business formula for last four years. Break status quo with new issue #1. Return to status quote with new issue #1. Break status quo with new #1. Return to status quo in time for movie tie-in with new issue #1. Peter Parker is the latest character to tote this contrived rock, though I’m glad for his return.
Image Expo announces new titles from like EVERY CREATOR EVER.
I say goddamn! Image Expo is going down, and the company has used the platform to announce new titles from like every fucking creator I hold near and dear. Except for Hickman, who is writing like 3,246 titles at the moment. But still! Holy fuck. Fraction, Graham, Brubaker, Snyder, on and on.
Hit the jump for the litany of awesomeness coming.
