Re-Spawn: Paul Jenkins is taking over as writer of ‘Spawn’ with Issue #251

Spawn

What kind of scumbag uses a shit joke that just riffs on a word also in the title? THIS SCUMBAG. After getting pumped that Brian Wood was writing Spawn, I got pretty un-pumped when he announced he left the title over editorial problemz. But now I’m doubling-down on my excitement (and hyphens, and shit puns, and shit heads, and shit holes) now that word of Paul Jenkin’s participation on the title has rocketed out of McFarlane’s gullet.

Star Wars.

Next month Star Wars #1 is dropping on shelves, kicking off Marvel’s newly formed alliance with The Force. I had sort of expected it to sell a good amount, but apparently the fucker is going to be the highest selling comic in twenty years.

Awesome: ‘Ms. Marvel’ writer G. Willow Wilson signs exclusive Marvel contract

Ms. Marvel #7.

Normally I’d be all bummed out about a creator I love signing an exclusive contract with one of the Big Two. You know. Can’t do their own thing. Playing around with someone else’s mythos. Blah blah blah. But I’m bipolar, and I’m also happy G. Willow Wilson has been rewarded for the sheer wonderful nature of her writing.

If Scott Snyder and Frank Miller see this through to fruition, there’s going to be a follow-up to the follow-up to the comic book that pretty much slathered the entire industry in gloom. Yeah, bruh. The Dark Knight 3: More Brood. More Sad.

THE WORLD IS ODD: Chip Zdarsky is writing a ‘Howard the Duck’ ongoing.

howard the duck

Chip Zdarsky of Sex Criminals fame is getting into the Howard the Duck game. And while he’s the goddamn talent-consummate mad men artist behind the aforementioned Sexual Criminality, mofuckah’ is writing the Duck tales. This development is something that seems straight-out of one of Chip’s lunatic Twitter rants. I love it.

GODDAMN YES: Chris Pratt starring in ‘Cowboy Ninja Viking’

fuck yes

Cowboy Ninja Viking was the short-lived but utterly fantastic comic by A.J. Lieberman and Riley Rossmo. Goddamn insane, with hypertextual, ultra-violence madness, it centered on a squad of assassins, spies, and killers with multiple personality disorders. Pratt is playing the lead Duncan, who yes, is a fucking Cowboy, Ninja, and Viking.
