‘Far Cry: Blood Dragon’ getting its own insane Netflix animated series courtesy of ‘Castlevania’ producer Adi Shankar
What the absolute fuck? We’re getting a goddamn Far Cry: Blood Dragon animated series? Didn’t ask for it, sort of surprised by it, but absolutely in love with the concept. Especially since it’s being spearheaded by Castlevania producer Adi Shankar. Trailer looks fucking fantastic, too.
Nintendo Enthusiast:
Adi Shankar came onto Netflix Geeked Week in collaboration with Summer Game Fest to talk about his upcoming Netflix animated series, Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, inspired by the old Far Cry DLC. “Dolph Laserhawk is a cybernetically enhanced supersoldier who escaped from the Eden army and is trying to pull off his one final heist before sailing off into the sunset with his boyfriend, Alex,” he explained. “The animation is going to be awesome. We wanted to bring you something different, something unique.” Bobby Pills is handling the animation.
Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix is inspired by several disparate things, like the DC Comics Elseworlds imprint, particularly Kingdom Come. Captain N: The Game Master was another inspiration because it redesigned classic Nintendo properties of its era, even if it wasn’t so popular. One more point of reference for Shankar was his own “Bootleg Universe,” which is an assortment of unofficial fan projects he’s created over time.
Adi Shankar rose to prominence in the gaming community for spearheading the Castlevania anime that recently concluded, so his passion for video games (and maybe for wanton violence) cannot be understated. Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix will apparently be full of over-the-top violence as well.
