‘Spider-Man 3’ reportedly bringing back Charlie Cox as Daredevil. This is so, so, so fucking sweet.
I’ll level with ya. The only Marvel show on Netflix that I really loved was Daredevil. But, man, did I ever fucking love it. And obviously, was pretty fucking bummed when it was killed. So fucking hell, am I excited that Charlie Cox is reprising his role (reportedly) as Daredevil in Spider-Man 3.
Comic Book Movie:
Is Daredevil finally coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
It’s become apparent in recent years that Marvel Television properties like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Inhumans, and The Defenders only very loosely tie into what happens in the movies, hence why it’s always seemed unlikely that Kevin Feige would #SaveDaredevil (especially in the wake of Marvel Studios Television launching). That makes this news all the more surprising.
According to Murphy’s Multiverse, Charlie Cox will return as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, in Spider-Man 3, a movie that seemingly added Andrew Garfield (Spider-Man), Kirsten Dunst (Mary Jane Watson), and Alfred Molina (Doctor Octopus) just yesterday. This has reportedly been “set in stone for several months now,” and common sense says Matt will be Peter Parker’s lawyer.
Many fans expected Jennifer Walters would take on the role ahead of She-Hulk’s launch on Disney+, but it appears Feige has taken note of fan demand and will instead focus on Matt.
Whether this means we’ll see the Man Without Fear suited up alongside Spidey remains to be seen; either way, it should serve as a great way to reintroduce the character to the MCU. There will be many fans of this shared world who never watched the Netflix series, so Spider-Man 3 could be vital to that.
Time will tell whether this pans out, but it’s hard not to get excited about a Spider-Man/Daredevil team-up as soon as next December! The movie is definitely getting a little crowded, though…
