‘Black Widow’ Trailer: The MCU’s preeminent Asian actress gets a second trailer for her solo movie
Get it! ‘Cause Scarlett Johansson was all, “Yeah I don’t see a problem with me playing an Asian” on like multiple occasions? Seriously though, this movie looks fun.

Football season is almost over, but Disney managed to squeeze one more Marvel trailer in before things came to a close. During the College Football National Championship game on Monday night, Disney debuted the latest Black Widow trailer, which features plenty of fighting, as well as a few actual details on what the movie’s actually about.
The trailer once again let’s us know that Natasha has returned home, and reintroduces us to her sister, Yelena Belova, played by the newly Oscar-nominated Florence Pugh. After brief stop-ins from the rest of her family, the trailer gives us some backstory on why Nat had to return home, and what sort of danger she needs her family’s help to defeat.
Natasha explains to her sister that she is on the run from her past and wants to become more than the killer she was trained to be. But to do that, she needs her family’s help to take out someone from her past. And it appears that someone is Taskmaster. The trailer teases the mysterious villain’s true identity, but all we get is a close-up of the masked figure, and a tease of the mystery that probably won’t be revealed until the movie actually comes out.
Black Widow is the first new Marvel Cinematic Universe movie since last summer’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, and the first to be part of the universe’s new Phase 4 plan. Phase 4 is set to focus on letting viewers learn more about characters they already love, like Black Widow, as well as lay the ground work for what comes after the cataclysmic events of Avengers: Endgame.
Black Widow arrives in theaters on May 1.
