Fans petition to have Danny DeVito play Wolverine. Finally, the nerds are petitioning something worthwhile

There is finally a petition worth supporting, my friends. Yup! You see, there’s one going around demanding that Danny DeVito play Wolverine. And, fuck, it’s not gonna happen, but this is a Very Good Cause.

A fan petition has lauched to persuade Marvel Studios to cast actor Danny DeVito as the next Wolverine.

“The only man able to take the throne after Hugh Jackman. We believe that if Wolverine is to make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that the only man able to pull it off is Danny Devito,” reads the full text of the petition, started by a Change.org user going by Ring Arius.

The 74-year old DeVito has often been joked about as a potential actor to play Wolverine, due in large part to his 4’10” stature, somewhat comparable to Wolverine’s sometimes-cited comic book height of 5’3″.

Artist Alex Ross has included a 90s-era sketch of a fake Danny DeVito-starring Wolverine movie poster in several of his published sketchbooks, seen here. (Bonus trivia: the poster borrows the credits of 1979’s Alien to fill out its details.)
