‘Avengers: Endgame’ is breaking pretty much every fucking box office record. Already made $1.2 billion worldwide. G’damn!
Avengers: Endgame is breaking like, all the fucking box office records. All of them. It’s already made $1.2 billion dollars worldwide.
AV Club:
The full weekend box office receipts haven’t rolled in yet, but Avengers: Endgame has already snapped its fingers and turned every opening weekend record into ash, much like—well, you know. Analysts saw this coming on Friday, when the movie made $60 million just from preview screenings (breaking a record set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens), and Endgame looked like it was all set to pass its predecessor Infinity War’s domestic opening weekend of $257.7 million. Now, halfway through Sunday in its opening weekend, Endgame has not only beaten Infinity War’s record but every other record as well.
As reported by Variety, Endgame is set to top $350 million this weekend at the domestic box office alone (breaking Infinity War’s record), and on opening night it beat The Force Awakens’ opening night record of $129 million by bringing in $156 million. It also beat the foreign box office record, which was set by The Fate Of The Furious last year with $443 million, with Endgame making a truly ridiculous $859 million outside of the U.S.—counting a similarly ridiculous $329 million from China alone. Fans of math can probably guess the biggest record that Endgame broke, though, with that foreign box office total bringing it to $1.2 billion worldwide. The previous record was set by Infinity War, which only made $640 million. Going from that to over a billion is, frankly, crazy.
Hopefully, the fact that so many people have already spent so much money on this movie means that we won’t have to wait too long before we can freely spoil it, because we’re really excited to talk about the part where… the one character uses the thing and… we’ve probably said too much already.
