‘Birds of Prey’ Teaser Trailer: Harley and friends will see you soon!

Fuck it, I’ll be excited for Birds of Prey. Why not? Written by the same women who wrote Bumblebee, which was fucking great.

Earlier this morning, actress Margot Robbie shared a photo of herself in costume as Harley Quinn from the upcoming Birds of Prey movie. Now Warner Brothers has released a brief teaser of all of the characters set to appear in the film:

The 20-second-long video provides blink-and-you’ll-miss-them looks at Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez), Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco), Victor Zsasz (Chris Messina), and Roman Sionis/Black Mask (Ewan McGregor). It closes with an extended look at Robbie as Harley, a character she first played in 2016’s Suicide Squad.

The video is similar to one that WB released a few months ago of Joaquin Phoenix as The Joker, and seems to signal the beginning of production on the film. If there’s anything to be gleaned from the tease, it’s that Smollett-Bell’s Black Canary looks to be hewing close to the ‘DCYou’ iteration of the character, who was the frontwoman of her own band in addition to a crimefighter.
