Jodie Foster in talks to join FX’s ‘Y: The Last Man’ in starring role. This shit feels more and more real
A good portion of me is refusing to believe that this Y: The Last Man adaptation is going to happen. That said, fucking news like this is challenging that portion more and more.
CBR:
Academy Award winner Jodie Foster is reportedly in talks for a key role in FX’s adaptation of Y: The Last Man.
The cable network ordered a pilot in April based on the acclaimed DC/Vertigo comic series by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, which follows Yorick Brown, an amateur escape artist who, with his pet Capuchin monkey Ampersand, is the last survivor of a mysterious plague that killed every other male mammal on Earth. The two set off on a globe-spanning journey to reunite with Yorick’s girlfriend, discover what wiped out the world’s Y chromosomes and find out why they survived.
According to That Hashtag Show, Foster is in talks to play Yorick’s mother Jennifer Brown, a congresswoman from Ohio who, after the plague, become secretary of the interior.
A celebrated actor, director and producer, Foster won Oscars for her performances in The Accused and The Silence of the Lambs, and was also nominated for Taxi Driver and Nell. In recent years she’s taken fewer acting roles, choosing instead to focus on directing; she appeared most recently in 2013’s Elysium and this year’s Hotel Artemis, and as narrator of an episode of Makers: Women Who Make America.
