‘Gears 5’ Trailer: New Lead Protagonist, Same Old Chainsaw Crew
I don’t know, it’s Gears of War. It doesn’t seem to be doing anything necessarily new, but I’m sure it’ll be a competent and fleetingly enjoyable experience.
The Verge:
The next major entry in the Gears of War series is coming in 2019. At its E3 keynote today, Microsoft officially unveiled Gears 5 the first new game in the grisly shooter series since 2016. The title will star Kait Diaz, who made her debut in Gears 4 and was playable in that game’s multiplayer mode. It’s being developed by The Coalition, the Vancouver-based studio that’s been charged with the franchise since 2014. It also represents a slight change in branding for the series, dropping the “of war” from the full title.
While story details are slim right now, the new Gears will feature both split-screen and online co-op play, and Microsoft is really hyping up the visuals for the game. It’s described as “the biggest, most beautiful Gears world ever created.” It will have support for 4K Ultra HD resolution, HDR, and will run at 60 frames per second. Like all first-party Xbox games, Gears 5 will be available on both the Xbox One and Windows 10 when it does release next year.
