Timothy Olyphant joins Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’ and sweet fuck this cast is stacked
Another day, another post about someone fucking fantastic joining the cast of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. Today? It’s Timothy Olyphant!
AV Club:
Because a movie already packed with hardcore character-actor types is still a movie that could add another one of those figures, Quentin Tarantino has spun the wheel of “charismatic edgy guys” he keeps in his study and come up with the name “Timothy Olyphant” to add to his next film.
Deadline reports Olyphant, most recently seen in the second season of Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet, is in talks to join Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Tarantino’s period piece set in 1969 Los Angeles. It’s still unknown whether Olyphant will be playing a fictional character or one of the real-life figures the camera will be following around during the summer prior to the Sharon Tate murder at the hands of Charles Manson’s followers. The actor’s schedule was reworked to fit around his busy schedule shooting the just-announced third season of Santa Clarita Diet, but clearly everyone’s appetite for working together made it happen. (We knew there was a way to work a cannibal pun in there somehow.)
Olyphant joins a real guy’s-guy roster of actors, including stars Brad Pitt and Leonardo Dicaprio, Burt Reynolds, Tim Roth, Kurt Russell, and Michael Madsen. On hand to lend a much-needed bit of estrogen to the proceedings will be Margot Robbie, who finally confirmed her involvement following months of speculation she would be playing the doomed Sharon Tate. DiCaprio is set to portray fading star and Tate neighbor Rick Dalton, with Pitt playing Dalton’s long-time stunt double, Cliff Booth. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood has a planned release date of August 9, 2019, with shooting to begin later this year.
