‘Sorry To Bother You’ Trailer: ‘Atlanta’ star Lakeith Stanfield shows you the power of the Dave Chappelle white guy voice

I can’t be the only one thinking of Dave Chapelle’s classic White Guy Voice while watching the trailer for Sorry To Bother You, right? And, don’t get me wrong. I mean that in a good way.

The sci-fi satire of Sorry To Bother You shook many a Sundance attendee, and now the trailer is making the rounds with the hoi polloi who have to wait until summer to see it in theaters.

Atlanta’s Lakeith Stanfield stars as Cassius “Cash” Green, a young man who discovers the secret to telemarketing success is sounding like a white guy—in this case, David Cross. Soon, his impression of a chipper suburbanite sends him shooting up the corporate ladder, where he’s met by Steve Lift (Armie Hammer), a coke-snorting CEO who appends his multimillion-dollar offers with smiley faces. As Cassius turns up with all sorts of buttoned-up types, his on-again, off-again girlfriend Detroit (Tessa Thompson) remains unimpressed by his cashing in on code-switching.
