‘The Blackout Club’ Trailer: A coming of age co-op survival horror from ‘BioShock’ and ‘Dishonored’ alums

How have I not heard of the developer Question, before today? They are compromised of talent that has worked on ThiefDishonored, and BioShock: Infinite, and already have one game until their belt. Fuck me sideways in a pit of trash. Anyways, I know about them know, and their next game The Blackout Club looks pretty cool.

Polygon:

Several developers credited on well known AAA-console titles such as the BioShock and Dishonored series have formed a new studio and will launch The Blackout Club, billed as a “cooperative paranormal horror mystery,” for PlayStation 4Windows PC and Xbox one early next year.

Question is the name of their studio and today it released a trailer introducing The Blackout Club. The game is set in a small town where the teenage cast have been experiencing blackouts, some of them for very long times. After one of their group goes missing and the grownups don’t seem to care, the kids begin their own investigation.

The Blackout Club’s makers are pitching stealth gameplay — sneaking out at night like you did as a kid, to document, on camera, the town’s deep dirty secret and uncover its connection to your friend’s disappearance. The town sits atop a maze of tunnels that connect “a hostile underworld filled with hypnotic music and populated by a clandestine group of adults,” according to a news release.

The Blackout Club will support cooperative multiplayer play for up to four people. Players will have to work together to survive the many mysterious horrors of the town.

“Our story is about vulnerable heroes — for whom co-op gameplay is a matter of survival — who unite to save their friends.” said studio co-founder Jordan Thomas, formerly the creative director of BioShock 2 and a designer on the first BioShock. “We love expressive systems, where you shape the game experience as you see fit, often versus a whole ecosystem of intelligent threats. And now, they’re right next door — in a familiar, modern town, where the monster wears a human face.”

Others on the development staff at Question have experience designing games such as ThiefPrey and BioShock InfiniteQuestion is targeting a launch in the first three months of 2019.
