‘Altered Carbon’ Trailer: I Didn’t Ask You To Bring Me Back Into This World

Altered Carbon hype fucking get, dudes.

io9:

The first full trailer is out for Netflix’s cyberpunk series Altered Carbon, and it dives into the story of our protagonist, who’s awoken hundreds of years into the future to solve the murder of a wealthy god.
Altered Carbon centers around Takeshi Kovacs (Will Yun Lee), a Japanese-American man whose consciousness is put into the body of a white man (Joel Kinnaman) hundreds of years after his supposed death. However, in this future people don’t really die, because their minds have been digitized (that’s happening a lot these days). He’s been commissioned by Laurens Bancroft (James Purefoy) one of the world’s top “Meths” (the show’s term for hyper-wealthy people who’ve lived hundreds of years), to solve his own murder.

Judging by the trailer, the show is going to lean heavy on action, murder, and sexy times. Makes sense, given its literary source material (Altered Carbon by Richard K. Morgan) and cinematic inspiration (Blade Runner). However, I’m hoping the show dives into the ethical and moral quandaries that surround digitizing the human consciousness. I also want them to explain this weird shot.
Am I the only one seeing a Golden Eye-esque face enlargement on that guy? His head is, like, ginormous. Altered Carbon comes out February 2.
