‘The Flash: Flashpoint’ movie will feature Wonder Woman because all DCU things will now
Wonder Woman is going to be the new Batman of the DCU, it looks like. Not in the sense that she’s going to be hysterically brooding, miserable, and in need of therapy. No, no. Rather, she’s going to be turning up all in their properties. Since, you know. She’s the only good thing about their cinematic universe, so far.
CBR:
Nestled within a Forbes analysis of the commercial success of director Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman is the contention that star Gal Gadot is expected to make an appearance in the Flash film, characterized as “Flash’s solo movie but […] also more of another superhero team-up featuring several additional DC superheroes.”
Ray Fisher’s Cyborg was announced last year as part of the cast, but if the film will somehow adapt the 2011 DC Comics crossover “Flashpoint,” as the updated title suggests, it would certainly make sense for more heroes to join the fray.
The Forbes report added that Wonder Woman could potentially appear in the slew of Batman-related movies in the Warner Bros. pipeline. She’ll next be seen in November’s Justice League and in 2019’s Wonder Woman sequel.
The Flash film has endured a tumultuous development, with Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who wrote the original story treatment, courted to direct, but ultimately declining. The were succeeded first by writer Seth Grahame-Smith, in what was to be his feature directorial debut, and then by Rick Famuyiwa, who left the project in October 2016. Although numerous filmmakers, from Robert Zemeckis to Sam Raimi, have reportedly been in the running for the gig, The Flash movie still doesn’t have a director.
The Flash: Flashpoint stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Billy Crudup as Henry Allen and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. Originally intended to hit theaters on March 16, 2018, the film currently has no announced release date.
