Next ‘Star Wars’ spin-off movie to be decided by June, please anything but Boba Fett

next star wars spin-off movie

I am particularly agreeable when it comes to this new, Disney-owned Star Wars universe. So while I would love, with boner and smile alike, a Star Wars movie set outside established canon, I’m sort of accepting that won’t be coming any time soon. So, given my agreeability, can we please just be given anything but a fucking Boba Fett movie? Please?

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has revealed that the next Star Wars film to follow after the release of Episode IX will be determined next month.

The film will be a part of the Star Wars Anthology Series that includes 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the untitled Han Solo prequel set to release next year. When asked about a third anthology film, Kennedy told Vanity Fair that they are currently in the midst of deciding between two stories.

“Yes. We haven’t identified it yet, but yes. We have a couple of things right now that we’re circling, and we’ll make a decision between the two pretty shortly,” Kennedy said. “It’s probably for 2020, and we will make a decision by June.”

For years, rumors have circulated that the third movie would be about the infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett. More recently, there has been speculation that a Obi-Wan Kenobi prequel is in the works. Further details for the film, including its director and cast members, have yet to be determined.

Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: The Last Jedi features returning cast members Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma and Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, joined by franchise newcomers Kelly Marie Tran as Rose, and Benicio del Toro as DJ and Laura Dern as Amilyn Holdo. The film opens on December 15, 2017.
