Doug Liman has spent the last couple of years circling and then leaving superhero movies, due to scheduling conflicts. First, it was Gambit. Now, it’s Justice League Dark.

CBR:

Warner Bros. and DC’s upcoming Justice League Dark film, titled Dark Universe, just lost its director. Variety reports that director Doug Liman left the DC Extended Universe film in order to focus on another project, Chaos Walking, which was recently given a green-light by Lionsgate.

This is the second comic book property that Liman has departed, the first being Fox’s Gambit film. The director later revealed that he ultimately decided to leave the project as he couldn’t connect with the script.

Liman was actually the second director set to board Dark Universe behind writer and director Guillermo del Toro, who also left the film in order to focus on another project. According to the report, Warner Bros. is already on the search for a director to replace Liman, with a selection expected to be made in the coming weeks. One name already in the mix appears to be that of It director Andy Muschietti.
