Sega seems to be teasing at new ‘Bayonetta’ project
I loved Bayonetta. Never played the second. But man I’m there if they put out a new Bayonetta for the PS4/Xb1, or even a port of the second.
Sega’s got a mysterious countdown clock running, and whatever it’s ticking down to, it seems like it has something to do with Bayonetta.
We first noticed the secret site this weekend, when the publisher launched Bayonetta-themed April Fools’ Day joke on Steam. Included with the platform’s free-to-play, 8-bit Bayonetta parody were two achievements that hid a special URL. Going to that page opens up a barebones site with just the timer — and a very, very faint image of the character’s foot in the background.
Fans on Reddit later noted that the image comes from a trailer for the first Bayonetta game, and it was also seen on the collector’s edition box art. Since the teaser comes straight off Steam, it’s easy to put two and two together and guess that Bayonetta is heading to PC at some point, but that’s up to speculation for now.
The countdown is set to go off at 12 p.m. ET on April 11. Big fans of the Sega and PlatinumGames series should mark that date on their calendars — it could be Bayonetta’s first big appearance since she joined the Super Smash Bros. fray as downloadable content last year.
