‘Logan’ Red Band Trailer: It’s X-23’s (Real) World Now
The latest Logan Red Band trailer cements two things, as if there was any doubt. That this is a different, “real” take on Wolverine. And that X-23 is a star in the (hopeful) making. I’m down with both.
While the majority of the international red-band version of “Logan’s” final trailer is the same as the general audiences take, it is definitely less safe for work thanks to it dropping a few uncensored F-bombs.
It also features a slightly extended scene at the end, which finds Professor X (Patrick Stewart) lamenting to Logan (Hugh Jackman) how exhausted he is traveling with X-23 (Dafne Keen). “Two days on the road, only one meal, and hardly any sleep,” Xavier says of the trio’s road trip. “She’s 11, I’m fucking 90.”
Jackman’s ninth, and purportedly final, appearance as Wolverine, “Logan” is set in the near future, years after the epilogue of 2014’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” In it, a weary Logan, whose healing factor is failing, cares for an ailing Professor Xavier in a hideout on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, pursued by dark forces.
Opening March 3, “Logan” stars Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant, Dafne Keen, Eriq La Salle, Elise Neal and Elizabeth Rodriguez.
