Rumor: Megan Fox To Play Poison Ivy In ‘Gotham City Sirens’
Megan Fox to play Poison Ivy? That’s the rumor. And if a comic book is announced, and there isn’t mind-numbing, incessant rumor-mongering about it, does it really exist? I’m not sure. But, that isn’t a problem for Gotham City Sirens, mere days after being announced.
From the moment a Gotham City Sirens movie was announced, the fancasting begun in earnest. A live-action Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy team-up is so exciting we can’t even stand it — especially for us ladies, who have yet to see a female-led superhero movie on the big screen post-Iron Man. (No, Jupiter Ascending doesn’t count.) When it was announced on Wednesday that David Ayer would be directing the film and that it was being fast-tracked at Warner Bros., it wasn’t long until the first cast rumor took root and started blooming: Megan Fox could be our Poison Ivy.
Margot Robbie will definitely be returning to her role as Harley Quinn, with which she completely stole the show during this summer’s Suicide Squad, and she’s producing the movie after getting the ball rolling on it at WB when her Harley research introduced her to the Sirens. But we don’t know anything else about it — we’re not even one hundred percent sure who else will be in it, although both Poison Ivy and Catwoman are pretty safe bets. Bleeding Cool seems to think Megan Fox is gunning for Poison Ivy after apparently ordering a couple comics online that prominently feature the character, but let’s just reiterate that this is still EXTREMELY A RUMOR. Megan Fox is a pretty big comics fan (as evidenced by her recent appearances in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Jonah Hex, and we can probably put Transformers in this category as well) so her interest in the role wouldn’t be surprising, but this could also just mean maybe she wanted to pick up a few comics she hadn’t read yet.
That said, a Megan Fox Poison Ivy could be pretty cool. Ivy is a seductive character who’s charmed even Batman once or twice before, and I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that Fox could totally fit into that role. Ivy is also a brilliant scientist-turned-ecoterrorist who fights using pheromones and whip-like vines she engineered herself, and cracks almost as many jokes as her best friend Harley, and Fox, believe it or not, is actually very funny. She has lines in Jennifer’s Body that are downright hilarious. If this rumor is true (again, very rumor, much speculate, wow), we wouldn’t be mad.
