Dunkirk, Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film about one of the most crucial battles during World War II, finally has a trailer.
Nolan and Warner Bros. first announced the film back in September 2015. Dunkirk will star Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance and One Direction’s Harry Styles. Nolan has worked previously with Hardy and Murphy on films like Inception and the Batman movies, including Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Rises.
The Battle of Dunkirk took place between the Allies and Nazi Germany in France from May 26 to June 4, 1940. During that time, it led to the defense and evacuation of the Allied forces from Dunkirk. By the end of the battle, more than 330,000 Allied troops were rescued from the town.
Dunkirk is being captured with 65 mm film and top-of-the-line IMAX cameras to give it a cinematic experience similar to Nolan’s last movie, Interstellar.
Dunkirk is slated to be released July 21, 2017.
