Emilia Clarke Joins The ‘Han Solo’ Spin-Off Movie
Emilia Clarke has joined the cast of the Han Solo movie. It appears that Khaleesi will be going to a galaxy far, far away! That’s right, I’m totally the first one to make that joke, I’m sure! Ha! Seriously though, cool casting, I guess? I’ve always sort of thought she sucked as an actress, but hey. In Lord and Miller I trust.
Emilia Clarke will appear in the upcoming Star Wars Anthology film about Han Solo, Lucasfilm and Disney announced today.
Disney and Lucasfilm did not give the name of the character that Clarke will play, saying only that she will “round out a dynamic cast of characters that Han and Chewie will encounter on their adventures.” The film takes place prior to the events of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
Clarke, 30, is a British actress best known as Daenerys Targaryen on HBO’s Game of Thrones. She has also appeared in films such as 2015’s Terminator Genisys.
The still-untitled Star Wars spinoff film will tell the origin story of Han Solo, who will be played by Alden Ehrenreich. Lucasfilm and Disney announced last month that Donald Glover, of Community and Atlanta fame, will star as a young Lando Calrissian. Helmed by The Lego Movie co-directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the film is set to hit theaters on May 25, 2018.
