We now know when Nintendo’s next license to print money will arrive. Super Mario Run is hitting iPhone and iPad on December, running for a cool $9.99. There will also be a free version, apparently.

Polygon:

Nintendo’s Mario makes his grand appearance on the iPhone and iPad, a first for the mustachioed plumber, on Dec. 15 with Super Mario Run, Nintendo announced this morning.

While the game will cost $9.99 and grant unlimited access to each of the three modes in the release, a free version will allow players a chance to check out all three modes of the title.

The game is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices running iOS 8.0 and will support English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Russian and traditional Chinese language options.
The game will eventually launch in 151 countries and regions, starting on Dec. 15, according to the press release. It’s unclear the exact date for other regions, though the press release notes that the Republic of Korea won’t be receiving the game in Korean until 2017.

No word yet on when the game will be released for Android devices.

The game is Nintendo’s take on the endless runner genre so popular on mobile devices. In it, players tap the screen to get an always running Mario to jump over obstacles, avoid enemies, collect coins and reach the course-ending flagpole.

Super Mario Run was debuted on stage during an Apple press conference by Shigeru Miyamoto, who had a hand in the title’s design.

At the time, Miyamoto said that Mario would travel across classic stages to collect as many coins as possible in a set time limit. Tapping makes him jump, and the entire game is playable with just one hand. There are several worlds to explore in the game; the demo showed a menu screen with six worlds.

The game will also feature a multiplayer mode called Toad Rally that has you racing against people on your friends list.
