‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’ Teaser Trailer: A Future Beyond The Milky Way

BioWare has dropped a new teaser forĀ Mass Effect: Andromeda. And brothers, and sisters, it’s got me goddamn sprung.

GameSpot:

BioWare today released a new teaser video for Mass Effect Andromeda, the developer’s highly anticipated sci-fi role-playing game.

A narrator invites the viewer to join the “Andromeda Initiative,” a group that will travel outside of the Milky Way Galaxy. “The time has come to prepare ourselves for a future beyond the Milky Way; a future that begins 600 years from where we stand, in a time and a place among unknown stars and unseen dangers,” the narrator says. More information about the Andromeda Initiative, whatever that is, will be announced on November 7. That’s not a random date, as it’s known as N7 Day to Mass Effect fans.

You can sign up to learn more about the Andromeda Initiative at its website. The site references “special training opportunities,” which could be a reference to a beta, though this is not confirmed.

After planning to launch the game in 2016, EA delayed Andromeda, only saying it would now be released during its fourth fiscal quarter, which spans January through March. Earlier this year, a delay until “early 2017” was confirmed by BioWare, explaining that it “need[s] the right amount of time to make sure [it] deliver[s] everything the game can be and should be.”

An Amazon listing for an Andromeda tie-in art book suggested the game might launch on March 21, but this is not confirmed.

With a release just months away, EA and BioWare have begun to pull back the curtain a little. At the PlayStation Meeting in September, we got our best look at Andromeda gameplay yet. They also revealed that the male and female characters both exist in the in-game world and are siblings.

EA will report earnings for its latest financial period today, November 1, at which time the publisher may share more details about Andromeda.
