‘Defenders’ Adds Misty Knight and Karen Page; Season Will Be Eight Episodes

Marvel's Defenders

Some Defenders news collated for your ass. ‘Cause of my negligent ass. First up: the show has officially added Misty Knight and Karen Page, which we all sort of anticipated. Second up: the show’s season will run eight episodes.

CBR:

The series, which will bring together the leads of Marvel’s four Netflix series, has added “Luke Cage’s” Simone Missick and “Daredevil’s” Deborah Ann Woll to its cast.

This will mark Woll’s third season of television as Nelson and Murdock’s intrepid secretary-turned-reporter Karen Page. “Defenders” will also see Missick return as Misty Knight, a character she played in the recently released “Luke Cage” season one. The extent of both of their roles, including whether or not Misty herself will be a full-fledged Defender, remains unknown.

Missick previously hinted at Misty Knight’s involvement in the series. Back in September, Missick said, “I believe I’m safe to say that I will be on ‘The Defenders.” This marks as official confirmation of the detective’s role on the series.

Empire:

Netflix’s arm of the MCU is building towards its own Avengers-style team-up, The Defenders, in 2017. In a departure from the norm, the season will run to only eight episodes rather than than the 13-strong runs of Jessica Jones, Daredevil and Luke Cage.

The first two episodes of The Defenders also have a director in place. S.J. Clarkson, veteran of two Jessica Jones episodes (Crush Syndrome and Ladies Night), will be behind the camera on Episodes 1 and 2 as Cage, Jones, Daredevil and Iron Fist team up to keep the Big Apple evil-free.

“It’s not who’s the big bad or how are their powers going to work or what’s the action sequence that we’re going to figure out,” explains Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb of the assembled superheroes. “It’s these are four people who have very different ways of looking at their lives. Now let’s put them together and see what happens.”
