‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Photo captures the Iconic Alleyway

This shot, or some riff on this shot, has been done across movies, comic book covers, and comic book variant covers so many times. That said, I’m excited by this new iteration, as my hype for this flick grows.

Spidey is back to his old haunts in the latest photo from “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” which shows star Tom Holland hanging out in what is presumably a New York City alleyway. The new look shows Holland standing high above the street and shrouded in shadow.

“Thank you to [stunt coordinator George Cottle] and his amazing team for making me look like a badass,” Holland commented on the photo. Cottle’s past credits also include Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight” trilogy as well as “Inception” and several “Harry Potter” films.

Directed by Jon Watts from a script by from a script by Jonathan M. Goldstein and John Francis Daley (“Vacation”), the film also stars Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr., Zendaya, Michael Keaton, Logan Marshall-Green, Donald Glover, Bokeem Woodbine, Michael Chernus and a still-expanding ensemble that includes Michael Barbieri, Kenneth Choi, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, Hannibal Buress, Abraham Attah, Tiffany Espensen, Garcelle Beauvais and Angourie Rice.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” swings into theaters on July 7, 2017.
