‘Terminator 2’ announces 3D Rerelease Next Year with New Poster
Terminator 2 is getting a rerelease next, presumably to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Skynet’s awakening. And what is a good rerelease, without a new poster?
Released back in 1991 and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Robert Patrick and Edward Furlong, “T2” centers on a reprogrammed assassin robot, the T-800, sent back in time to stop its more advanced model from killing a teenage John Connor. That teen, played by Furlong, would go on to lead the resistance against Skynet, a lethal AI system bent on destroying humanity.
The film became an instant blockbuster success, quickly raking in over half a billion dollars at the box office. The sequel to Cameron’s classic 1984 film “The Terminator” still tops many fans’ lists as one of the greatest action movies of all time, as well as the best in the film series. Three sequels would follow in the subsequent years to diminishing critical and financial success each time, but if the sci-fi franchise has taught us anything, it’s that it’s better to focus on the good parts of the past instead of trying to change it.
“Terminator 2 in 3D” will be released sometime next year, presumably sometime around August 29 — and whenever Cameron takes a break from planning his multiple “Avatar” sequels.
