‘Gears of War 4’ Gameplay Trailer: Father, Son, Mucho Murder
Marcus and his kid, man. Just straight killing things together. Quality bonding. I’m jealous. Not how I bonded with my dad, this right here. Generally we “boned” by him defeating me in some physical activity while demeaning my existence for the audience in his head. Man, that, uh, got dark quick. Enjoy the trailer!
Gears of War 4 is less than three months away, and Microsoft is teasing fans ahead of its October launch with a new look at franchise hero Marcus Fenix. A campaign demo above shows the team, including a much older Marcus and his son J.D., taking down enemies after their village has been ransacked.
The seven-minute walkthrough opens with Marcus’ voice, but don’t expect to get a great look at him. Gears of War 4 stars his son J.D. instead, and Microsoft hid the fact that his father would also appear in the game until E3 2016, when an older, grayer Marcus made his first appearance.
The publisher told Entertainment Weekly — who also shared a full in-game shot of the character, above — that Marcus will be playable in the game’s multiplayer campaign and Horde Mode, which was first seen in Gears of War 2. Microsoft also uploaded a short tour through one of the new multiplayer maps, Forge, seen below.
