Production on the as-yet-untitled “Star Wars: Episode VIII” is well underway, and director Rian Johnson offered fans a little something to tide them over by sharing a behind-the-scenes sneak peek from the set on his Tumblr blog.
The photo features Luke Skywalker’s robe and some filming equipment set against a stone background. The rocky set recalls Skellig Michael, the Irish island transformed into Ach-To, Luke Skywalker’s refuge, for the 2015 blockbuster; as fans have seen in several earlier photos, some of the film’s sequence will take place there. With Stars Wars Celebration Europe just about a month away, it’s possible we’ll learn more about the film — perhaps even a title — in the near future.
“Star Wars: Episode VIII” is scheduled to open Dec. 17, 2017.
