Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ adds Lupita Nyong’o to cast

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” star Lupita Nyong’o is currently in talks to star oppositeChadwick Boseman in “Black Panther.”According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nyong’o is in negotiations to play T’Challa’s love interest, though no name has been revealed for the character at this time.

In addition to her role as Maz Kanata in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” Nyong’o lent her voice to Raksha for Disney’s live-action adaptation of “The Jungle Book.” She also won an Oscar for her role in “12 Years a Slave.”

Boseman’s T’Challa made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in “Captain America: Civil War,” where he sided with Iron Man against Captain America’s team. Over the course of the film, he assumed the title of King of Wakanda, like his father before him, and donned the mantle of Black Panther in his quest for revenge.

Written and directed by Ryan Coogler, “Black Panther” is scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 16, 2018. “Captain America: Civil War” is now playing.
