Ryan Coogler (‘Creed’, ‘Fruitvale Station’) directing and producing TV show, ‘Minors’
I’m down for anything Ryan Coogler is attached to these days. And Coogler seems to have a good amount on his plate. The director ain’t just doing Marvel’s Black Panther, nuh-uh. He’s also joining Destin Daniel Cretto in directing the TV series Minors.
I’ll skip the standard opening line that proclaims TV to be the best thing since sliced bread, and just get to what you need to know: Two talented rising filmmakers are headed to the medium for what sounds like a pretty terrific project.
Ryan Coogler (“Fruitvale Station,” “Creed“) and Destin Daniel Cretton(“Short Term 12“) will produce and direct episodes of “Minors.” Penned by Chinaka Hodge, who will also produce, the show will be inspired by the writer’s work with troubled kids, and tell the story of kids who grow up in the system of juvenile facilities and alternative schooling. It’s certainly familiar ground for Cretton, whose “Short Term 12” glanced upon many of those themes, and potential material for Coogler as well.
