‘Star Trek’ TV series lands ‘Wrath of Khan’ director as a series writer
The new Star Trek television series has made a major addition to its writing team: Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan director Nicholas Meyer has joined the show, executive producer Bryan Fuller announced today.
Meyer will serve as a writer and consulting producer on the series.
In addition to his work on 1982’s Wrath of Khan, Meyer was credited as a writer on Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991), the latter of which he also directed. Adding Meyer to the Star Trek TV series’ team should make fans even more hopeful following the announcement earlier this month that Fuller, who wrote for Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, had been hired as the showrunner.The untitled Star Trek series, which CBS announced in November, is scheduled to premiere in January 2017. The show’s pilot will air on CBS, while the rest of the episodes will be available only on CBS All Access, the network’s $5.99-a-month streaming service.
