Report: Next ‘Assassin’s Creed’ taking place in Egypt, dropping in 2017
You know, I got AssCreed: England for Christmas, and I’ve been wanting to play it. Seems dope. But, you know, Fallout 4 happened. Is happening. Seemingly forever. But even though the latest installment interests me, I think UbiSoft is doing the right thing in taking a year off from its Flagship Franchise. And Egypt? Cool.

The next destination for the mainline Assassin’s Creed series is ancient Egypt, according to a report from Kotaku. The follow-up to 2015’s Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is supposedly codenamed “Empire” and apparently won’t hit until 2017.
The decision to not release a major new Assassin’s Creed title in 2016 would be atypical for publisher Ubisoft; the company has released at least one new Assassin’s Creed game each year since 2009. Reportedly, Ubisoft is considering releasing a major new Assassin’s Creed game every two years, moving away from the annual release cycle.
Kotaku’s report lines up with unverified posts from 4chan’s video game board, which dropped supposed details on an Egyptian Assassin’s Creed earlier today. Given that Kotaku has revealed details on the three most recent Assassin’s Creed games (Syndicate, Rogue and Unity), months before they were announced officially, we’re inclined to believe its reporting.
Ubisoft still has a few Assassin’s Creed releases planned for 2016. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India and Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia are hitting in January and February, respectively, and the Assassin’s Creed movie hits theaters this December.
