Maybe: Adam McKay writing ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’
After Edgar Wright dropped the project, Adam McKay did punch-up work on the original Ant-Man script. Briefly, he was in talks to direct, and that never happened. And now it is looking like he *may* be writing it. I would fucking love this.
After Edgar Wright famously parted ways with Marvel on Ant-Man, Adam McKay was briefly in talks to direct before Peyton Reed signed on for the job. Although the timing didn’t work out, McKay still did some work on the script with Paul Rudd, and it’s been reported that Marvel is still very much interested in having him do something more substantial in the MCU. According to McKay himself, he might be returning fairly soon.
In an interview with THR to promote his financial drama The Big Short, McKay was asked if he’d be back to work on Ant-Man sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp. His answer was far from definitive, but still seems a bit optimistic:
I was talking to [Paul] Rudd about it the other day. We’ll see what happens, but that would certainly be fun. I loved working with Marvel. And I have a couple of projects in development. One of them is more dramatic, one’s more comedy, still with a little bit of political teeth to it. And there’s a TV show idea I’ve been kicking around.
Last month we learned that Peyton Reed is officially returning to direct the sequel, which — as the title suggests — will put Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne in the Wasp suit (it’s about damn time).
