‘Fallout 4’ features Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman!), who also provided five original songs
Wut? Wonder Woman is a blues and jazz singer? #TheMoreYouKnow about Lynda Carter! She is all up in Fallout 4, and she ain’t just voicing a character. The talented legend is also providing original song for the futzing game (of the year).
Lynda Carter, the actress best known for her role as Wonder Woman on the eponymous 1970s television series, provided voice-over work for an important Fallout 4 character, publisher Bethesda Softworks announced today. Her role in the game doesn’t end there, though: She voices a singer named Magnolia, and Carter wrote and performed five original songs for the part.
Carter has appeared in several Elder Scrolls games; her husband is Robert A. Altman, the CEO of ZeniMax Media, Bethesda’s parent company. Her Fallout 4 character, Magnolia, is a singer in the town of Goodneighbor. The bar that Magnolia calls home is a key location in town, a place where a lot of business gets done, and Magnolia is right in the center of it all.
“She knows who the players are,” said Carter of Magnolia, in an interview with Bethesda. “She’s a great judge of character. She’s really, really smart. And she does what she does because she loves it. So this is a safe place for her too.”Carter also worked with Fallout 4 developer Bethesda Game Studios to create original music for her character. In addition to her long career in screen acting, Carter has been singing for decades, having released two recent albums in genres — jazz and blues standards — that are a perfect fit for the Fallout universe. Fallout 4 game director Todd Howard and audio director Mark Lampert collaborated with Carter and her Nashville-based band on some concepts, with the developers providing guidance in terms of the themes of the game and the feel of the other songs featured in it.
