Report: ‘Captain America: Civil War’ trailer debuting with ‘The Force Awakens’

This makes sense. Disney is propelling us into the apocalyptic monoculture, slowly accumulating our entire pop psyche for their benefit (and mine, #stockholder). So why not use the amazing largesse of corporate synergy that The Force Awakens presents as a means to promote another vessel?

CBR:

For the past few days, rumors about the“Captain America: Civil War” trailer have pinned it to “Spectre,” which opens on November 6. A new report from Collider, however, says that’s not true; instead, Disneyis holding the trailer for their upcoming “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” blockbuster, which opens on December 18.

As Disney owns both franchises, attaching the “Captain America” trailer to “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” makes sense. Additionally, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” obliterated the advance ticket sales record; AMC reported they sold out 1,000 screenings nationwide in the 12 hours after tickets went on sale, while Imax announced tickets for IMAX screenings have made $6.5M domestically, breaking previous IMAX records. By linking “Captain America: Civil War” to the latest “Star Wars” installment, Disney would reach a very wide audience.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and starring Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan and more, “Captain America: Civil War” opens on May 6, 2016.
