‘Flight of the Conchords’ writing a movie & touring next year
Hell yes! Sometimes I forget how much I enjoyed Flight of the Conchords back in the day. Maybe it’s because it was such a fleeting (albeit enjoyable) experience. Maybe it’s because of all the anti-psychotics in my blood. Who knows. Whatever the case is, I’m stoked that they’re returning.
For Flight of the Conchords, the clock just struck business time. Jemaine Clement, one-half of New Zealand’s favorite comedy-music duo has all but confirmed the band’s impending return in a series of recent interviews.
Earlier this year word surfaced that Clement and partner Bret McKenzie were planning a North American tour. In a new interview with Consequence of Sound, Clement confirmed this to be fact.
“We were planning on doing it this summer, but then I ended up doing The BFG instead,” Clement explained, referencing his role in Steven Spielberg’s forthcoming adaptation of Rolad Dahl’s Big Friendly Giant. “So it’s my fault we didn’t do it this time. But we are hoping to announce a tour. We’ll announce it before the end of the year, hopefully, and then some time next year get on the road … after we get some new guitar strings and that sort of thing.”
